Terms of Service
These terms apply when you buy a bag from Final Gravity AB ("we", "us") — the Swedish company behind Sailupcyclers — whether you order on this site or scan a QR tag at our stall. Before the legal bits: Sailupcyclers is a tiny operation. One woman at the sewing machine, and roughly half a husband helping out with the website and the market stand. We don't have a returns department; we have a kitchen table. We'll always try to be fair and friendly — these terms just write down the framework, which follows Swedish and EU consumer law.

The pieces
Every bag is one of a kind, cut and sewn by hand from sails that have actually been sailed. Marks, patches, stitch holes and sun-bleached patterns are part of the sail's story — they're features, not defects. Product photos show the exact piece you're buying, and measurements are approximate (sails don't come off a roll). Because each piece is unique, a sold bag can't be replaced with an identical one — only with a story about the next sail on the bench.
Prices & payment
- Prices are in Swedish kronor (SEK) and include VAT. Shipping, where applicable, is added at checkout.
- Payment is handled by Stripe (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay). We never see or store your card details.
- Your order is binding for us once payment is completed and the piece is yours.
- One-of-a-kind means exactly one exists: in the rare event the same piece is bought twice within minutes (someone at a market and someone online), the later payment is refunded automatically and in full — with our apologies.
Custom pieces (letters & numbers)
We can customize a bag with sail letters or numbers — initials, a lucky number, a boat's sail number. We'll agree the design with you by email or DM before anything is cut. You then get a private payment link for your piece; paying it confirms the agreed design, and only then does the sewing start.
Please choose carefully: a bag with your letters on it is yours in a way we can't undo — we can't realistically sell "K.J. 42" to anyone else. Customized pieces are therefore made to your specification and are exempt from the 14-day right of withdrawal (2 kap. 11 § distansavtalslagen, implementing the EU Consumer Rights Directive). This is stated on your order page and again at checkout, where accepting these terms includes acknowledging that the right of withdrawal does not apply to your customized piece. Your statutory rights if something is actually faulty are not affected in any way — see "If something is wrong" below.
Shipping & delivery
- We ship within Sweden and to the EU. The shipping options and costs are shown at checkout.
- We pack and post within a few working days; delivery times beyond that are the carrier's estimates, not promises.
- If a parcel arrives damaged, photograph the packaging and contents and email us straight away — it makes things much easier with the carrier.
Cancelling an online order (ångerrätt)
If you buy online (not at a market), you have the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under Swedish distance-selling law, counted from the day you receive the bag. No reason needed. To use it:
- Email us at hej@sailupcyclers.com within 14 days of delivery saying you want to cancel (a clear message is enough; you may also use the standard form on konsumentverket.se).
- Send the bag back within 14 days of telling us. You pay the return shipping, and the bag is your responsibility until it reaches us — please pack it well and keep the receipt with tracking.
- We refund the full price including our cheapest standard outbound shipping, within 14 days of your cancellation — we may wait until the bag is back with us (or you've shown proof of sending it).
- You're welcome to examine the bag as you would in a shop. If it comes back with wear beyond that — used in the rain, filled with pine cones — the law lets us deduct the loss in value from the refund. We'd honestly rather not; please just treat it gently until you've decided.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- Customized pieces — see "Custom pieces" above.
- Purchases made in person at a market or fair — our stall is our shop, so the distance-selling rules don't apply there. Do come and say hej at the next market if something's on your mind, or just email us — statutory rights for faulty goods apply exactly the same (see below).
If something is wrong (reklamation)
Under the Swedish Consumer Sales Act (konsumentköplagen) you have three years to complain about a fault that was there from the start — this applies to every purchase, online, at a market, customized or not, and we can't and won't shrink it. Sailcloth quirks described above aren't faults; a strap sewn on badly is. Email us within a reasonable time of spotting the problem (within two months is always in time). Since no two bags are alike we can't swap yours for an identical one, but we will put it right: repair first (she's rather good with a needle), and if that can't be done, a price reduction or your money back.
If we can't agree
We genuinely want to sort things out directly — a short email usually does it. If we can't agree, you can turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN, Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm); we follow ARN's recommendations. If you live in another EU country, your local European Consumer Centre can help too.
The boring-but-necessary rest
- Swedish law applies to these terms. If you live in another EU country, you always keep the protections your own country's mandatory consumer rules give you.
- How we handle your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
- We may update these terms; the date above tells you which version you're reading. The version in force when you ordered is the one that applies to your order.
